Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements for using roof shingles?

The roof pitch must be 15 degrees or higher.

The roof should be fully boarded over so each roof shingle strip can be nailed down.

How many packs will I need?

You can use the Shingle Calculator to work out how many packs you need.

One pack will cover 3m2 of roof surface and approx. 6m of ridge/hip.

Will I need anything else?

You will need some extra large headed clout nails to fix the roof shingles to the roof boards with. The length will depend on the thickness of your roof boards.

You may also like to use an underlay and Shingle Stick bitumen mastic.

These and other extra can be ordered from the  accessories page.

They are too many variants to list here but as an example:

1 - 8 packs to MK postcodes is £35.52

9 - 17 packs to YO postcodes is £43.92

18 - 33 packs to SO postcodes is £51.12

What is the delivery procedure?

Roofing shingles are heavy, approx. 30kg per pack, which makes them much too heavy to go in the post. We use a pallet delivery network to deliver our roof shingles. That means we can deliver them to anywhere in the UK quickly, cheaply and efficiently.

Smaller accessories can go on a pallet with the roof shingles. Accessories ordered on their own can go by post. You will need to order these over the telephone on 01270 756698.

Delivery is 3-5 working days for most roof shingles. Some less common styles and colours may be 7 working days.

We will give you a delivery date for your roof shingles when we process your order.

Deliveries can be anytime between 09.00 and 17.00.

The transport company will not contact you in advance unless you request it. They cannot give definite times.

Deliveries are usually made on a 7.5ton or 18ton rigid lorry but larger lorries may be used in some areas. If you think access could be a problem please contact us in advance with the details. If the transport company cannot deliver there will be a charge for re-delivery.

The lorry will have a tail lift so they can bring the pallet down to ground level. They will pull the pallet off the lorry using a pallet truck. The driver is not expected to take the pallet any further so you should make the necessary arrangements for moving the goods onwards from the roadside.

You will need to be there to sign for the delivery.

Delivery is ultimately the responsibility of the transport company and we cannot be held responsible for any delays due to the transport company or any other unforseen circumstances. Time is not of the essence. If you need the goods for a specific date and time you must advise us of this when ordering.

Can I collect from your warehouse?

Yes, it is possible to collect your roof shingles from us in Wem, Shropshire by prior arrangement.

We will give you a collection date for your roof shingles when we process your order.

How do I fit my roof shingles?

Our Instructions page has lots of information and advice for you.

What if there is a problem with the goods?

You must inspect the goods on delivery/collection. Although unlikely, if there is any damage you must write a brief description on the POD which the driver will have and notify us within 48 hours. Risk passes to you on delivery/collection.

Returns will only be accepted if the goods are damaged. We are not able to accept returns if you have ordered the wrong product or for any other reason.

Sometimes the pallets and packs the shingles come in may look a little dirty or tatty - the plastic wrap may be scuffed or torn a little and plastic around the shingles often comes undone when they are lifted up. This is simply external wear and tear which comes about from transporting, forklifiting, storing and manhandling the packs and pallets. This is all completely normal and does not constitute damage. The shingles themselves are hard to damage so will be in good condition.
